Gary's Sermon
Today, i was very impressed with Gary's sermon on "suffering"...I agree with him that as Americans we do not face the physcial suffering that some do around the world....but it is so very important that we take a lesson from those who do suffer for Christ's name...We need to take a look inside our very own hearts and be real with ourself....How selfish are we?...so many times as Americans we lose focus on giving everything to God in EVERY situation of our lives...and i guess what my advice and what I got out of the sermon is when trials come our way, look at it as your chance to depend and rely on God and grow closer to him.....keep you eyes focused on heaven guys...

That's a good point Nate. I really liked Gary's sermon today too. We will all suffer in our lives, though not much compared to to others around the world. The times when I feel like I'm "suffering" the most end up being the times that I feel my relationship with the Lord growing the strongest. After I lay my heart out for the Lord, I feel a lot better about the difficult situation too. I guess what I'm trying to say is this: When your facing a hardship, talk to the Lord about it first. Accountability is a great way to grow with other Christians in your faith by helping each other through hard times, but if you don't bring your burdens to the Lord too, your relationship with Him won't grow. Taking your troubles to the Lord and relying on Him is what He wants us to do. He wants us to come to Him with everything. So the next time you feel overwhelmed and feel like calling your friend to lay your heart out to them, talk to the Lord about it first. One of the benefits of suffering is that we will always have God to lift us back up.

I agree Hope...God can use our sufferings for many reasons and to live up to our potential in being an affective Christian, we must look towards God in everything we do...through good and bad...
